Slammed

Boy, oh boy, were we ever busy this morning at the Call Center!! Usually Black Friday morning isn't busy, because everyone is out for those crack-of-dawn store specials. I'm not sure if it was the frigid weather we're having here in the northeast - two callers from Ohio said it was too cold to go out - or if the stores just didn't have enough sales or low enough prices to get people out. But this is the first Black Friday (and this is my sixth) at the Call Center where they had to allocate some of our calls to one of the other Call Centers for us.

[When the number of customers in queue and the "wait time" gets to be too much, calls are rolled over to the other Call Centers. Our company has three - PA, OK, and NV.]

Out of the six quilted stockings we started to sell six weeks ago, we are down to two. Many of the Xmas decorations are gone already. Since the catalog and the retail stores are treated as separate companies and have their own inventory, we have to call the stores to see if we can find any of the sold-out items there. LOL ~ and today our store associates SURE don't want to have us calling them!! They're busy enough.

Oh, well. That's the retail Xmas biz.

Now I'm going to eat Thanksgiving leftovers ... yum.

Here in Florida where it's a balmy 75/80 degrees and sunny, the stores are packed. I dragged the Other Half to a sale at the Home Shopping Network Outlet and splurged on jewels that would make Liz Taylor blush.

I have quite the flashy sterling silver white and blue topaz ring, which surrounds a lovely black opal in the center. And, at a price of only $12, how could anyone resist???

This must be interesting from time to time -- and onerous others. You lead an odd life. Sort of. I mean, maybe. Kinda.

Does being slammed help the day go by or drive you crazy?

Saurkraut: Indeed - who COULD resist?! We've a QVC outlet in Lancaster, and QVC has a store at its studio outside the Philly area.

Actonbell: the call center usually gets busy later after the "early bird" specials are over.

Hoss: yes, it can be both. My first call this morning was from the Netherlands from a woman who grew up in Georgia - she was missing the warm weather.

Doug: being busy does help the time go by more quickly. I can only stand it as a part-timer. I don't know how the others do it full time.

We were out today, but not shopping. Just walking the mall and then to the movies. Not too crowded.

I tried Best Buy online yesterday; they were down until about 10 am, then down again a few times during the day. I'm sure they're not real happy with their IT folks right now.

The Missus was out yesterday, and as Saur has reported, it was packed down here. She's off again galavanting around town with her list.

Hope you at least have the day off today!

I admire anyone who works on 'black Friday'. I hear there were some good sales to be had. I stopped off at Neiman Marcus in route to visit my daughter to exchange something, and the store was completely full. My husband, thankfully, waited in the car.

Hope you got some good deals!

Oh, ick! Black Friday must be tough in a job like that. Glad you survived it!

Isn't is amazing how much shopping goes on the day after Thanksgiving? I just stay in, and let other people fight the crowds. My hubby went out for a bit and said he thought the crowds were light, execpt the mall parking lot was packed.

I hope you enjoyed those leftovers!
We will be making the trip back home on Sunday. We've enjoyed some good eating.
Hope your weekend is restful.

I hadn't heard of Black Friday until I started seeing it mentioned on blogs. It looks like a shopper's worst day!
