Capitol Appearence
About a dozen members of my church (including the four in the photo above) joined others to protest the state representatives' voting on the gay marriage ban.
This article appeared in yesterday's Patriot News.
This issue is a matter of CIVIL RIGHTS in my eyes. Gay people are Americans, and therefore entitled to the same rights as everyone else. Why should I have more rights than someone who is gay?
There is no valid legal argument to support laws that limit the rights of citizens who are not otherwise breaking any other law. Convicted felons loose some of their rights (like the right to own a firearm, or in many states vote) but they can still get married. So what about non-felons who are gay? What is the excuse for limiting rights there?
