Rabbit Rabbit

We went to NYC last Thursday to see Phantom of the Opera matinee. Had a great pizza at Lombardi's. They say that they're the first pizzeria in NYC, and they still use a coal oven to bake the pizzas in. Then we went to il laboratoria del gelato. I sampled and then had a cup of their thai chili chocolate gelato (it was alot like ice cream). It tasted like chocolate but then there was a hot aftertaste on the back of my throat. Very good.

Missing Chatham - we had gotten into such a routine with his meds and so forth. And he had slept in bed with us since he was eight weeks old.

Looking forward to meeting a couple of certain bloggers later this month ...

... and my Girls will be 17 on July 20. We keep asking them what they'd like to do for their birthday, but I know that Bookworm and I will be at Borders to get our copies of the last Harry Potter book at midnight that night.

The Rainbow Bridge

Chatham, at age 20 years and nine days, has crossed The Rainbow Bridge:
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

MeMe Answers

What were you doing ten years ago?
I was still working as a custom picture framer (and it was also a "DIY" shop, we'd cut the wood moulding and show people how to build the frame and finish it up). In all, I was there 14 years, and really enjoyed being a Framer (even got certified by the Professional Picture Framers Association). But three really unpleasant prima donnas got hired as full-time employees. As a result, eventually four long-time part-timers quit (one of them is working where I am now).

What were you doing one year ago?
Last summer the Girls went to Mexico with other Girl Scouts, so we were preparing for their departure. I was also preparing for the summer art camps that I would be teaching.

YUMM! Five snacks you enjoy:
1. Popcorn
2. peanut M&Ms
3. White Cheddar Cheese Cheez-It®
4. frozen chocolate chip cookie dough (I was nibbling on this WAY before it became commercial!)
5. Doritos Cool Ranch

Five songs to which you know all the lyrics:
1. Most of the songs from Rocky Horror Picture Show
2. American Pie (Don McLean)
3. Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen)
4. Holding Out for a Hero from Shrek 2
5. A good many Girl Scout songs

Five things you would do if you were a millionaire:
1. Quit my job
2. Buy a different house - not a whole lot bigger, just different.
3. TRAVEL!!
4. Buy an antique car or two
5. Get that horse I was always asking for

this is from greenmountainanimalhospital.com
Five bad habits:
1. Doing absolutely nothing
2. Procrastinating
3. Avoiding work
4. Playing games on my cell phone or computer
5. Eating too much too often

Five things you like doing:
1. Drawing (or other Art)
2. Reading

Rabbit June Rabbit

Sorry that I haven't been posting. I guess that I feel like that all I would have to say would be whiney.

Today is the last day of regular classes @ my Girls' school. Final Exams next week.

Goa'uld tried out for Marching Band Drum Major. We'll know next week how she did.

Bookworm would like to take Algebra III during the summer so that she can take Pre-Calc next year, but there ain't a formal way to do it. I've sent an email to the Head Math Teacher to see if there was a way.

They both want to go to Band camp, and Bookworm would also like to attend a Theater camp. If Goa'uld is made Drum Major, then there's Drum Major camp.

My employer has cut my hours to four a week. However, I didn't get any this week. I must find a job - poor Hubby can't do it on his own. Not with Twins with Driving Permits. And I have discovered that I am a horrible "housewife". I feel like all I get "done" is laundry, but of course that really is endless. I do manage to mostly keep up with it.

A bright spot is my art. I have discovered that Colored Pencil is a media that I really, really like. It is very time consuming, but I seem to have the patience for it.

About a year ago I agreed to be Assistant Service Unit Director for the local Girl Scout SU. Then the SU Director Louise started calling me Co-SUD. Hmmm ... okay, but all I wanted was a supporting role. Now she tells me that she's informed Council that she will not be returning to the Service Unit role. Great. Now they'll expect me to step up.

Nope, can't do it. Won't do it. {sigh)

Chatham is now a dozen days away from his 20th birthday.
